Drama in English curriculum - Improving school collaboration

Age group: high school, 14-18

Aims:
 Motivate students for language learning
 Enhance students’ speaking skills in English
 Improve cooperation between students
 Encourage learners to be create and spontaneous
 Boost students’ self confidence
 Support personality development


Lessons (for half-term)

1. Getting to know each other (learning names+ meanings, playing together, design your own greetings, fun games)
2. Getting to know each other more (one person walking across the room, others asking questions; imitating your partner; talking at the same time)
3. Different ways of storytelling (using a well-known story, different styles/ changing details; competition of interruptions)
4. Easy, controlled improvisations (Building a shed, Hitchhiking, How did she die? - games)
5. Semi-controlled improvisation (One place, one time, one line; perform given situations, but get ready to change your mood)
6. Family dinner (eating together while pretending to be an Italian family)
7. Working with body language (acting silently, “travelling” to favourite place, learning movement from partner, performing with background music)
8. Working with music (building a story in groups based on a song)
9. Working with classical script in groups – rewriting
10. Working with classical script in groups – performing scenes
11. Working with chosen topic without scrips (+distributing roles)
12. Working with chosen scripts, double-checking roles
